Our events
Our events provide you with an opportunity to come along and meet us as well as enjoy fantastic music and dance, here's some of our past events. Make sure you don't miss the next one!
Our Evening with Miriam OjeraMiriam Ojera is a talented singer and dancer, born in Uganda in 1988 and at the age of two years moved to the UK with her parents.
Miriam is a naturally gifted performer who continues to develop her talents demonstrating a diversity that can make you think she is older than her years and is comfortable singing R&B, Soul or Gospel or leading worship in her church.
Since a young age dancing and singing have been her hobbies, hobbies that have now become life ambitions. Through the years of growth in performing arts she has also developed her faith and her passion is all about her relationship with God.
Miriam just loves singing, and has grown in confidence since working with OBR Records. Her positive outlook on life together with her strong faith has enabled her to come through trials and tribulations with a smile. Her hopes and aspirations for the future involve sharing her talent with others and helping encourage more young people to reach their dreams and strive for their own goals.
Since graduating from Whitehall Performing Arts College, a period that she says were the hardest 3 years of her life, she continues to dance with a troupe called Krewcial.
Miriam and her band have now made their first CD with OBR Records, produced by Eric Odotei. The CD has been very well received and demonstrates not only the singing talent of Miriam but the versatility of the musicians she so dearly loves.
Give a child a chance concert
The past and present came together on Friday May 11th in Old Harlow as former Procol Harum drummer Bobby Harrison performed live with his band The Journey. The concert and buffet were conceived and organised by Rev Dave Welch and his team at St Mary's church in Old Harlow as part of their In the Community programme with all the proceeds being generously donated to the Fountain of Peace Children's Foundation on behalf of orphaned children living in Uganda.
The audience was treated to a mixture of high quality music and vocals covering both Tamla Motown and Country and Western favourites, but it was the classic Whiter Shade of Pale that brought the audience instantly to their feet. The many years of experience were evident for all to see and admire. Bobby Harrison was born in London in 1939. He began his musical career as the drummer for Procol Harum. When he left he formed a band called Freedom and was featured on four of their albums between 1970 and 1972.
The Launch Night
A Night to remember can be an over used phrase, however, if the response received by the Fountain of Peace team and our web site are any indication, then a great time was had by everyone who attended the 'give a child a chance concert', including those who performed, on behalf of the children of Uganda.

The venue of All Saint's Church in Woodford Wells was perfect. A mixture of classic church architecture combined with a bright and contemporary interior produced an ambience that was to enhance this very special evening for almost 400 invited guests and a fitting venue for charity trustee Peace Ruharuza to share a small part of her own life as a child in Uganda. Her life account provided both insight and purpose to the evening and also to the future work of the charity.

HE Mrs Joan Rwabyomere, High Commissioner of Uganda, attended and eloquently addressed the audience as part of the evening's celebrations, while Poet Sugar Black shared her powerful poem Many Nations One World that induced the reality of the past, where opportunities to address injustice and poverty have been missed by our world leaders, while at the same time evoking the sense that things can and will get better when we realise that we are all one race, simply called humanity.
