With Peace’s background as a Compassion sponsored child, it was always our intention to work alongside Compassion and help them establish a project in the local area. They were able to do so in 2013 and, to date, more than 250 children from the local community are enrolled in the Rwenjaza Child Development Centre. Some of these children also attend the Rwenjaza Hillside School, established by Fountain of Peace. Whilst attending school all children are provided with at least one meal a day.
Mothers Matter in Childbirth
As previously mentioned FOP established a partnership in a life-changing project working in the most rural and impoverished villages of Kyenjojo District. "Mothers Matter in Childbirth" serves to eradicate avoidable perinatal deaths amongst the poorest folk in these villages (see separate article on Home page). To date, it is estimated that 70-80 lives have been saved by this initiative since it first became operational in October 2023.
St James' Church
Another life-changing project for the area is the development of St James' Church, the only place of Christian worship in the whole community, from its previous status as a much needed but small building into a very large structure intended to be the centre of all Christian and community functions for the future. Local folk had built up to roof level over years, as money permitted, but a church in Cheltenham, UK has funded the entire roofing structure. FOP UK is working with FOP UG to complete the final stages of this project, for the glory of God (see separate article on Home Page).
Developing partnerships
Here in the UK we are also committed to developing partnerships with other bodies and organisations who share our objectives. This may include schools, churches, businesses, social groups, or individuals who wish to work alongside us. We are seeking to work with different schools to help support their school curricula, and are building a library of modular resources for their GCSE level pupils on subjects such as Environmental issues, Sustainability issues, Health & Poverty issues, Working in differing Cultures etc.
We believe this to be a very valuable resource for pupils from totally different cultures to learn from each other to their mutual benefit, and would welcome opportunities to extend this initiative in the UK.
Presentations
Many churches from a variety of backgrounds across the UK give generously to support our work, for which we are deeply grateful. We would welcome the opportunity to give an illustrated presentation of the work and are always more than happy to visit your church and speak about what we do and why we do it.
We also welcome enquiries from businesses and/or any other organisation who may be interested, who may want to support our work, and are sympathetic to the Christian ethos which underpins everything we do.
