Work alongside Local Authorities

The Fountain of Peace Children’s Foundation (FOP) is the only officially registered babies’ home  in the Kyenjojo District. Sadly there is no shortage of children in need of care here.  We work exclusively with the local Government approved authorities (Social Welfare Department and/or Police) and are usually the first to be contacted by them when there is no one able or willing to care for a child.  We work to provide a long term home for these critically vulnerable children.

Every case is tragic, but FOP is there to provide help in exactly these circumstances.  A rigorous assessment process, including a full health screen and quarantine, is implemented by the authorities and ourselves to investigate every case before a child is legally registered into our care. Our one aim is to provide a child with a stable, secure start to life and beyond.

Many of our children have been orphaned as a result of perinatal maternal death, so often avoidable, and many others come to our care because the extreme poverty, especially in the more remote parts of the District, means their families simply cannot afford to provide for them. If there is no one else to care for the child, we are always willing.
