Current situation with FOP in Uganda

Do we have a child sponsorship or adoption scheme for the FOP children?

As far as the UK is concerned the answer is No, certainly for now. It is possible that, in Uganda, some sort of adoption process may be considered but the implications of such a move in the UK are far too complex. Similarly, for sponsorship, there are so many considerations before we could seriously consider such a move, though some form of letter writing to the children may be a possibility before too long.

Current situation in the FOP village

We now have 67 children, 48 of which are housed in six family homes with the remaining 19 in Bethel Babies Home. Family home 7, 8 and 9 are under construction.

What is the current situation with Covid-19?

After nearly 2 years of lockdown, all schools, including the FOP school (Rwenjaza Hillside) reopened again in January 2022.

Key projects and activities completed during financial year June 2020 to May 2021

The Covid-19 pandemic has significantly influenced our operation in the UK, insofar as promotional activities have been severely curtailed, affecting our income. However, we can report that we continue to operate from a solid financial base which, along with the loyalty of our donors, has allowed us to fulfil all our obligations without diminishing our ability to make additional funding available for capital expenditure projects etc. During this period the following activities/projects were completed:

  • During the Covid-19 pandemic, FOP has been able to help the local community by providing them with food aid (maize flour and beans, as well as soap) to 400 families
  • Completion of the 6th family home
  • Rebuilding of the access road to the FOP project/local village
  • Conversion of the wood fired kitchen burners to eco-kitchens in all the family homes and Bethel Babies’ home
  • A new three-classroom block for the RHS including provision of furniture
  • Installation of extra lighting, CCTV and security fencing for the garden plot
  • Purchase of Silage Machine

We are committed to making grants of £7,500.00 per quarter in lieu of our regular financial commitment to the FOP project in Kyenjojo, and also provide funds to cover our school teachers’ holiday pay.

Key projects and activities for the year June 2021 to May 2022

  • Installation of Grid Power has been completed which will not only benefits the FOP village and RHS but also the local community
  • The old poultry house has been converted into a two classroom block for Rwenjaza Hillside School (RHS).  Provision of furniture for this has already been funded.
  • Fundraising is ongoing for a Farmhouse on our 40 acre farmland.  This will include an office for the farm manager, storage facility for produce, accommodation for farm staff and an open shelter for the FOP tractor and implements
  • Water supply for Farmhouse, fundraising ongoing.
  • Purchase of Threshing Machine

Our committed grants (see above) have increased to £8,150.00 per quarter.

Update on trips/volunteers to FOP Uganda

Due to the Covid-19 situation, we have had to cancel four trips (July 2020, January 2021, July 2021 and January 2022). We are currently making preparations for a trip in July 2022 and are praying that this will go ahead. People who originally booked onto these cancelled trips automatically have first refusal when we can make a visit to Uganda. If you are interested in joining a trip in the future, please contact us at info@fountainofpeace.net.

Currently, FOP UG are not accepting medium to long term volunteers.

How can I donate financially?

You can click on the Donate button situated at the top of each page on our website. If you wish to set up a regular donation, either complete the standing order form and post to FOP head office or do so through on-line banking using FOP bank details on the standing order form.

If you can gift aid the donation , download the gift aid form at the bottom of the Donate page and either post completed form to our head office (address on bottom of page) or print off and email completed scanned document to info@fountainofpeace.net.

We are so thankful to all our supporters for your unstinting faithfulness over this period.
