In addition to supporting our own children from the Fountain of Peace Children’s Foundation (FOP) programme, we are also helping many local children receive an education. Until 2013, most of them had no access to education because the nearest school was too far away.
Through the help of generous donors from around the world, FOP has been able to develop a purpose-built school comprising 3 separate buildings for Nursery, Primary and, in the near future, Secondary levels. As of early 2026 there are approximately 250 children coming from both FOP as well as children from local villages, some brought in by our school bus. Our intention is to eventually extend the facility to include vocational training for young people as they grow up. There are outdoor facilities for various sports activities as well as classrooms where it is intended to teach Music, IT, and Art amongst other activities. Bearing in mind this is in an agricultural area there are also facilities to encourage the children to develop appropriate skills in that direction.
During 2025 the decision was made to utilise a teaching curriculum known as Accelerated Christian Education (ACE). All of the upper classes now use this method of learning with the Nursery classes about to follow. ACE is a Bible-based programme with a core curriculum containing academics, skill building, reading practice, character and wisdom training, alongside a knowledge of God and His Word. The complete package progresses through secondary school giving all students a solid foundation for pursuing their life goals.
Fountain of Peace is actively seeking partnerships with UK based schools in which we can work together for the mutual benefit of students in both countries. Specific educational activities at Rwenjaza Hillside School have already been hugely beneficial in assisting its progress, funds being raised through different initiatives to complete the building of a new school block, and also currently towards installing Wifi. We are looking forward to sharing sports opportunities with schools in the UK as we build on these relationships.
